What a fabulous night!  Thank you to everyone who helped out with set up and pack down,  donated items, brought along a team or bid on items.    If you have yet to pay for your entrance, or any items, please do so as soon as possible.  Payment can be made through to the usual Church Account, ref Quiz (Karori Anglican Church/02-0500-0019955-00).   $5,000 (approx) has been raised toward Te Korōria.

Congratulations to the team from Marsden Books who took out the first prize!  We had amazing support from our community so special thanks to Iona Tiny House, Zany Zeus, Gamoni’s Deli, Physique Studio, The Interislander, Gipp St Butchery, Absolute Bliss, Florence Boutique, The Pickle Jar, Just 4U Beauty, Sunday Interiors and Yvette’s Garden Design for donating some of our major auction items.   Also our thanks to our Quiz Master Andrew McDouall and our Auctioneer extraordinaire James Dowle.

LATEST TE KORŌRIA UPDATE
This week we have seen the lift shaft blocking go up, and the Nu Wall cladding starts to go on to the Counselling Rooms.  This work will continue over the next few weeks.   The two photos above show Te Korōria from the drop-off car park, and the second photo was taken from a similar position to the first but facing back towards the counseling rooms and SMASH offices.    Our Gib has also arrived, and once the windows are in by mid-October our site will be weatherproof!

Items from the little orange gift books would make excellent Christmas Presents for people you don’t know what to buy for, so keep that in mind!  We can provide you with a little gift certificate to wrap up, as the physical present. We really appreciate all the amazing donations we have received so far.  We have received over $56,000 donated towards fit-out costs which is fantastic.

NEW MINISTRY ADMINISTRATOR – JONO SORENSON STARTING 3rd OCTOBER

Jono is starting with us as Ministry Administrator from October 3rd.  We are really looking forward to having him on board.  He brings experience in a number of office roles, his music skills (performance and composition) as well as his pilots license!  He will be joining us at the 10.30 service for worship once he’s started, so look out for him and say hi.

CONGRATULATIONS  – TO YVETTE MICHALSKA OUR ACTING SMASH MANAGER

We are excited to let you know that Yvette is our new SMASH Manager, and will be managing our After School Care Programme.  Tabatha De Longa our previous manager has worked closely with Yvette over the past seven years, and now we are pleased that Yvette has agreed lead the team going forward!  It is great to have someone who is a core member of our congregation at the head of this important ministry to the community.  We are very excited about the future and all the opportunities SMASH will have working together with our Early Childhood Centre and Te Korōria.

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE MANNA MINISTRY MEALS
Thank you everyone who has re-stocked our Manna meals freezer over the last few weeks.  The meals keep coming in which is fabulous!   It was great to also hear about the fun time people have had cooking together!  These meals are kept in the Church Office freezer and we give them out to families in need.  This can be people within our congregation or in the wider community.  It’s such an amazing ministry to be able to have these to hand at a moments notice, it truly does make a huge difference in someone’s day to know a meal or two are sorted.  So a big thanks to all the chefs and those that provided ingredients!

SEASON OF CREATION 1 SEPTEMBER – 4 OCTOBER

Together during the Season of Creation, Christians around the world unite in prayer and action to protect God’s creation.  The Season of Creation starts on 1 September, the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and ends on 4 October, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi.  Many Anglicans take this opportunity to reflect on their relationship with creation, and to consider how God may be calling them further into Anglican Communion’s fifth mark of mission: “To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth”.
